We left our guesthouse at 6 am, arriving at the airport around 6:30am. We were all set for our 9:15am flight, when suddenly it was cancelled. The plane had hit a bird landing and could not be repaired. We waited over 5 hours to get to the American Airlines ticket booth to reschedule our flights. Half of us were able to get on a 5:15pm flight out that night, and the other half had to wait until the following day. After spending the entire day in the airport, our flight departed at 5:15pm. We went from Miami to Dallas, stayed the night in Dallas, and finally made it home at 12:30pm on Tuesday, July 21. The entire group eventually made it home safely, and we will forever hold a special place in our hearts for the children and the people of Haiti.
